A special treat

Today we had a special treat. Mr McLay was on a conference so we got to use the iPads. Miss eyre said that we were the teachers and we had to teach each other. We were amazing at being teachers. It's because we love to learn to lead!

PJ Day

We loved being at school in our pyjamas! Some mums said it was the fastest her children had ever gotten ready for school!

Jump Jam was in our mammies, followed by a parade.

The teachers looked so relaxed!

What pjs did you like the best? The onesies? The big slippers? The dressing gowns?

Back in class we had brunch. Tell your family what brunch is.

We ate toast and had milo with mini marshmallows, relish!

PJ Day should be every day!

Our descriptive writing

We are learning about adjectives. Can you guess who we are writing about?

Who is it?? Miss Eyre!

You guessed it! It's Mr Maindonald!

Who could that be? Why, it's Cameron!

Who could that be? It's Mrs Nummy!

It's Mackenzie's dad, Tony!!

We are pretty clever in Ruma Ono!

For more amazing descriptions come and see our back wall.

Pink shirt day

Today is pink shirt day.

"It's to stop bullying," said Saqqara.

"Bullying is when someone tells you they're going to do something bad to someone," said Mackenzie.

"Bullying is doing bad stuff to other people" said Vivian.

Bullying is kicking and punching and biting and telling someone you hate that person," said Byron.

"We can stop bullying by walking away and telling the teacher," said Kayden.

"Be nice to people and put drops in their buckets," said Ruma Ono.

We have read 'Down the back of the chair' by Margaret Mahy. Look what Cameron and Megan found down the back of their chairs last night. What can you find?

Cross country

Here are the 5 year old girls warming up before their big race!

Off they go!!

Look at these fast boys, flying like the wind!!

What a big run! Miss eyre was so proud that everyone gave their best.

P is for .....pikelets.

Our letter of the week is p. Tell your family how we write the letter p. "Hanging stick, tunnel, close it". Now show them how you write it.

In honour of the letter p, we made pikelets today. What is a recipe? What are ingredients? How did we make them? Look at the photos below to help you remember.

That's some fast mixing the mixture!

We all had a turn at stirring the pikelet mix.

We were very careful around the electric frying pan as it was very hot!

We all had one pikelet each. At the end Miss Eyre gave us a math problem. She made 9 more pikelets, but there were 18 people in class. Major problem - not enough pikelets!

How did we solve the problem using fractions to make sure that everyone had an equal share?

"Smile!" said Miss Eyre

Our shared book this week is called '"Smile!" said Dad'. We decided to make our own book, and to change the ending as none of us had been born when the book was written and it was a bit outdated! What is camera film anyway??

Here is our new version.
